  1. Hang in there, Steve!

Is there a link to either the Mayor’s office or City Council where we could send messages of support?

  2. This story is concerning. The fact that RTD can take away one’s land at “market value” (or less than), and not even consider the earning potential is against everything that is American. Equally alarming is the fact that .3% of the land is what is in question. 40 sq ft of 12000 sqft and RTD feels they need to acquire the entire parcel. This reeks of RTD planning to use the law so that they can benefit from someone else’s dream. As a home and property owner in Colorado this causes me great concern. It is scary to believe that I could buy land as an investment opportunity only to have that land taken away. Good luck Mr. Fesch, I hope that some good comes of this. (sorry for the redundancy, not sure if this is going through or not?)

  3. Eminent domain is supposed to be used to improve the lives of the public. Too often now though, it is being used by those in positions of power to increase their own personal benefits. Fight the good fight bud and good luck!

  4. I would like to see place built in walking distance of Mile High where I can go to enjoy the company of other Bronco fans.

I think it is a shame that the Bronco’s have not worked harder with private business owners and the City to develop the area around the park making the Stadium area a year round destination.

There is no where to go before or after games with in walking distance other than a bad KFC and a Denny’s. A deveoped area of private business owners incorporating bars and resturants would allow the area south of the stadium to be used year round and leave a better impression on visitors to Denver.

I for one feel that the area surrounding the stadium is not zoned properly and needs to be developed along the lines of Coor’s Field or even Wrigley Park in Chicago.

Please do not steal Mr Fesch’s land. Allow him to pour his own sweat and dreams into his property to better Denver, the Bronco’s, and Bronco fans.

  5. Hey Steve, I sent emails to Mr. Sean Hannity and Mr. Bill O’Reilly regarding your situation on Eminent Domain. My dad watches them on a regular basis and he thought it would be something they would like to sink their teeth into!

  6. An email I sent out to Mr. Bill O’Reilly.

    Dear Mr. Reilly,
I have a friend in Denver, CO that needs your help, if possible. He owns property/land in Denver near Invesco field and recently got a letter from RTD saying they need his property for a light rail system that is being built in Denver. He is being forced to fight a losing battle…How is it that the government can just take property that a person owns, not giving them what it’s worth whenever they like?
I told my story to my dad, who listens to your show, and he suggested that this issue might be something that you and Mr. Sean Hannity might like to sink your teeth into. Here’s the website with the story! Thanks for your time!

I also sent an email to Mr. Sean Hannity…I figured why not!

Actually, I sent two…not sure the first one worked!

    Dear Mr. Reilly,

Please take a moment to check this out. Why is it that government can go in and take personal property/land for their private use with no warning and not even be required to pay what that land / property is really valued at? This is RTD trying to build a light system rail in Denver and taking property away that belongs to a friend of mine that we use for tailgate parties at Denver Bronco games. He planned on building a restaurant/bar/museum there and now they are trying to take it away. Here’s his story!

  7. Great letter Steven, I agree wholeheartedly!

  8. Thanks for all the support people. I really appreciate it.

    Please help spread the word!

    Thank you,

    Steve Fesch

  9. Hey Steve, I support your cause as I am an Orange Maner and Orange Maner’s support others!. You have the right to your land and as the City of Denver should consider moving their light rail system somewhere else!. As Darrent Williams would say, “All ready!” and stand tough!.

  10. I find it incomprehensible that RTD is so insistent and inflexible on the acquisition of the entire land parcel when only a small portion of it is necessary for their project. The total and absolute refusal to even consider seeking a mutually-acceptable compromise is unreasonable and outrageous.

  11. This is obviously an abuse of power used by the RTD to grab more property than what the eminent domain laws should allow.
It is unbelievable that RTD did/ could not contact the affected property owners during the planning stages of this project. To wait until all plans are finalized should be considered as circumventing the intent of eminent domain laws. I would guess that this “Land Grab” was evident during the initial design stages of this project, and that is when contact should have been made with Steve Fesh and the opther affected LAND OWNERS, not after the wheels are already in motion.
In my opinion this is just another abuse of an ill conceived law!

  12. It is one thing to take land for a needed project (even though this is debatable to some) for the good of the people, but to not work on a compromise when only a very small fraction of the land is needed to fulfill the project (light rail) is needed. All eminent domain land that is not used for said projects should be returned at price per foot that was sold from original owner. Fear our government? In this case it sure does! Good luck Steve and all others out there with the same issues.

  13. From everything I have read, including an article in the Rocky Mountain News. RTD wants to take land for more than it intends to need for the New Fastracks and parking garages. I park in Lot N just across the street from Meck’s site. The walkway that he shows in the photo would more that accomodate what RTD needs. I hope that all goes well tomorrow night at the meeting. I wish that I could be there for you Meck, but I cannot get off work early enough. I will check here to see more after the meeting.

    Fight the good fight.

  14. This kind of thing is scary to say the very least. I think RTD and the city need to realize the citizens will only take so much. I personally wont be surprised to find out later that a few profited greatly at the cost of many.

  15. It appears from everything that I can see and read. RTD is taking land for more than just the USE of RTD. This is wrong and unfair to the legal owners of the land and property now. It looks like, they have all along intended to take the properties and use the land for other reasons. It also appears that Lakewood is in full agreement with them. This was wrong when the Supreme Court decided to allow Eminent Domain, and this is exactly why this should have not been allowed.

  16. As a longtime friend and fellow Broncos, Steve’s fight is my fight as well, and I know many others who feel the same way.
I’d like to personally apologize for being unable to attend this weeks meeting, while also congratulating everyone who lent their support.

I am still here, and I am willing to do anything I can to help my friend in this situation.
Friendship aside, this situation is appalling and a shining example of everything wrong with our local government. What Steve has done for this city, its beloved football team, and the HUNDREDS of people whom his hard work has brought together should be commended, and if we truly are in “Broncos Country”, then the time has come for our elected officials to step in and hear the cry for help.

It’s good to hear that Mayor Hickenloopers office is getting involved, and here’s to hoping that a reasonable solution can be reached. Many broncos’ fans ability to connect with one another and fulfill Steves dream is at stake. Lets hope good prevails, and of course, GO BRONCOS!!

Thanks for everything you do Steve. We love you,

    Jake Meffley and family
