  1. I hardly think you’re nuts. I’ve been researching eminent domain and the whole Transit Oriented Development fallacy for some time, and more voices need to be heard.

If you want nuts, follow the “conspiracy theory” that links Smart Growth to the UN’s Agenda 21, in which it’s recommended that the US be forced to push down it’s use of autos (and it’s free market economy) to make the rest of the world a bit more equal. There are links, but as one knows, the net has 90% fantasy and 10% real, and it’s finding the 10% that’s the challenge. But these two issues are creepily close conceptually.

If you are not familiar with them, talk to folks at the Land Use Coalition in Boulder (www.landusecoalition.org, a voice for property owners on Planet Boulder’s socialist landscape). I’m the chair of the Libertarian Party in Boulder County and I’ve watched them win some serious battles against eminent domain and other “planning” abuses. If you have not yet seen it, you also might check out Randal O’Toole’s new book, “Best Laid Plans: How Government Planning Harms Your Quality of Life, Your Pocketbook, and Your Future” just out in late 2007.

A lot more folks are waking up, and I’m glad you’re there. I’ve been writing about this stuff at http://www.yourhub.com/LOUISVILLE for some time, and every time I see someone collecting more data, I really appreciate it.
